Living Room Refresh

February 3rd, 2010

I rearranged a few things in the living room, and I really like how this corner of the room looks, finally.

The bookcase belonged to my parents. I think they bought it when they were first married. It’s a little beat up — it still has the mark from the iron my mother set on top [...]

Smells Like Spring

April 5th, 2008

Spring has finally arrived, at least for the weekend. It’s nice to be able to open the windows, hear the birds chirping and get some fresh air in the house.
Hope you have a good, productive weekend!

Dried Up

February 25th, 2008

I’m trying to be more thoughtful in arranging our things around the house, such as grouping “like” items together to create more of a theme. Here’s the kitchen window arrangement.

Even though they’re dead flowers I still like to look at them against the backdrop of snow falling outside (yet again!). Garden planning is on the [...]

How We Spent our New Year’s Eve

January 1st, 2008

We really don’t like to go out on New Year’s Eve, so we spent a nice, quiet evening at home: a little fondue, a little sparkling wine, a DVD (The Simpsons Movie), a blanket and a cat or two. And of course, the first new year in our house. Perfect.

So Happy New Year to you [...]

I know that my concept of Home has changed since then, especially when it’s my own home and not my parents’. During college [...]

So Refreshing

October 7th, 2007

There’s nothing better than this on a near-90° sunny day.

Naturally on an unseasonably warm weekend like this, all our AC vents are covered with plastic and rosin paper because of the window restoration, so the cats and I have been hanging out in the basement trying to stay cool.
Hello, Fall? I’m ready for you [...]

The Official Stamp of Approval

September 29th, 2007

The new sofa is a hit.

Since the living room is still in shambles with the window restoration going on, you’ll have to wait for more photos. It’ll be worth the wait, I promise.

Signs of Moving In…

July 17th, 2007

…include a well-stocked refrigerator. Some details:

Goose Island Summer Ale, a Chicago brew

Schneider Weiße, the absolute best Weiss beer, brewed in Munich. I was ecstatic when they finally started importing it here.

Green River, a Chicago soft drink (or “pop” as we say here). My mom works for the company that makes the flavoring. I’m not a [...]
